Scarce Jovian 'Emperor with Victory' AE1
Bronze, 8.11 grams, 28.50 mm. Thessalonica. 363-364 AD. Obverse: DN IOVIANV-S PF PP AVG, rosette-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Reverse: VICTORIA ROMANORVM, emperor in military dress standing facing, head right, holding labarum and Victory on globe, mintmark dot TESB dot in exergue. RIC VIII Thessalonica 237; cf Sear 4085. Note: Jovian was the last emperor to use PF and PP in his title and the last to issue such large, well engraved, bronze coins. Very fine-good very fine/extremely fine.
