Late Anglo-Saxon/Viking 'Latticework' Lozengiform Stirrup Mount
Copper-alloy, 17.07 grams, 42.02 mm. Circa 10th - 11th century AD. Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup-mounts of Williams's Class A Type 12 are found in both openwork versions and plain cast, as here. The mount is formed as a lozenge with an internal saltire and the junctions lack the usual raised bosses. The rear flange is complete and pierced by a single rivet, and the apex loop is intact.
