Late Anglo-Saxon/Viking 'Openwork Class B' Stirrup Mount
Copper-alloy, 17.87 grams; 33.96 mm. Circa 10th-11th century AD. An openwork zoomorphic Anglo-Scandinavian mount of Williams’s Class B Type 1 Group 2 formed from degraded animal-heads. The disposition of the piercings is symmetrical among the pattern of three masks. Reference: Williams, D.
