Copper-alloy, 20.47 grams; 53.05 mm. Circa 10th-11th century AD. This is a tall Anglo-Scandinavian mount of Williams’s Class A, Type 5 consisting of a pentagonal frame containing a pair of lateral tendrils with scroll terminals converging into a zoomorphic head to supports the apex loop. The long apex loop rarely survives and the pentagonal frame is plain, which is excessively rare. The piece is substantially complete and undamaged. Reference: Williams, D.
