Late Anglo-Saxon/Viking 'Zoomorphic' Stirrup Mount
Iron, 13.76 grams, 42.90 mm, 10th-11th century. A nicely cast Anglo-Scandinavian stirrup mount of Williams’s Class A Type 1. The incised design features two addorsed beasts’ heads on drooping necks divided by a central panel; the lentoid eyes are clearly depicted. The three piercings and reverse flange are complete.
