Late Bronze Age 'Socketted and Fluted' Chisel
Copper-alloy, 65 grams, 95 mm long. Circa 1,200 to 700 BC. The round socket opening tapering into a square section chisel blade with slightly convex tip and with a flute to two edges. Reference: Arthur MacGregor Antiquities from Europe and the Near East in the Collection of the Lord McAlpine of West Green, number 10.8 for a similar example. Attractive, with slight curvature to shaft and some loss of the thick patina. Provenance: from an old English collection.
