Bronze, 3.82 grams, 19.90 mm. Nicomedia. 313-317 AD. Obverse: IMP C VAL LICIN LICINIVS PF AVG, laureate head right. Reverse: IOVI CONS-ERVATORI, Jupiter standing left, chlamys across left shoulder, holding Victory on globe and eagle-tipped sceptre; eagle with wreath at foot left; officina letter zigzag (retrograde Z) in right field; mintmark SMN in exergue. RIC VII Nicomedia 13 var (fieldmark); cf Sear 3798. Note: This fieldmark is known for this issue coin struck in the name of Constantine I (RIC 12) but is not listed for Licinius. Extremely fine.
