Iron, 45 grams, 89.90 mm. 16th century AD. A substantial key with pipe shank. The bow is annular with coiled ends attached to the shank by a raised collar. The shank is hollow with ward to the underside, bits to two faces. Reference: Monk, E. Keys. Their History and Collection, Princes Risborough, 1987 p.26. Fair condition, some loss to shank. Provenance: found Maldon, Essex, UK.
