Medieval 'Cabochon' Hat Pin
Silver and copper-alloy, 4.33 grams, 19.79 mm. Circa 15th century AD. A silver pin, its round shaft curled into an S-configuration, surmounted by a discoid cell with billeted border enclosing a copper-alloy dome. Reference: cf. hooked fasteners in Murawski, P. Benet's Artefacts of England and the United Kingdom, Ely, 2003 item M13-0206. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
