Medieval Casket 'Lozengiform' Barrel Key
Copper-alloy, 4.74 grams, 41.28 mm. Circa 11th-12th century AD. A barrel key of Type II made by rolling sheet copper-alloy over a former. The bit is a rectangle with a triangular tooth or recess on the leading edge. The bow has been formed as a lozenge by further folding the edges.
