Medieval 'Cinquefoil' Bifacial Strap End
Pewter, 9.12 grams, 39.25 mm. Circa 14th century AD. A cast pewter strap end with crenellated upper edge. The trapezoidal faces are each decorated with trefoils and a cinquefoil on a hatched background. The lower end features an openwork loop design and there are two piercings close to the upper edge. The strap end is formed as a flat plate, closed around the end of the strap and rivetted in place. Reference: Egan, G. and Pritchard, F. Dress Accessories 115-1450, London, 2002 fig.97.
