Medieval 'Closed Type' Thimble
Copper-alloy, 14.61 grams, 24.82 mm. 16th century AD. A large cast thimble with textured surface. The body is bell-shaped with a spiral band of impressed triangular dimples. The mouth is provided with graduated bands, into the upper of which is impressed a trapezoidal maker's mark with an arrow or tribrach to the centre. Reference: Holmes, E.F.
