Medieval 'Expanding Cross' Pilgrim's Purse Badge
Pewter, 15.93 grams, 59.63 mm. Circa 14th-15th century AD. A cast lead openwork disc with central boss and segmented rim attached to a cast foliate frame, probably from the facing flap of a leather purse. Reference: Egan, G. and Pritchard, F. Dress Accessories, 1150-1450, London, 1991, page 351. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
