Rare Medieval 'Griffin Passant' Heraldic Mount
Copper-alloy and enamel, 8.55 grams, 37.91 mm. Circa 13th century AD. A cast rectangular mount featuring a griffin in champlevé technique advancing with right foreleg raised, tail erect and wings spread. Above and below are rectangular plates pierced for attachment.
