Medieval 'Horse Heads' Pendant
Silver, 6.06 grams, 48.91 mm. Circa 13th century AD. A cast silver pendant formed as a pair of animal heads emerging from a central lozengiform plate with a bulbous finial and knop beneath. The suspension loop at the top is thick, with the suspension ring still in place. Reference: cf. zoomorphic plate pendants from grave 14 in the 13th century cemetery at Podini-Rusini, Latvia, in Griciuviene, E. Ziemgaliai - The Semigallians, Vilnius, 2005 p.66-8. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old collection.
