Medieval 'Anchor' Naval Stud
Copper-alloy, 3.30 grams, 16.56 mm. 16th-17th century AD. A small strap- or belt-stud used to stiffen and protect the leather. The owner has ornamented the flat surface of the stud with a geometric design consisting of a central bar joining a wide horizontal line at one end to a triangular feature at the other, and the addition of tthe loop at the top completes the anchor design.
