Medieval ‘Saltire’ Square Weight
Lead, 75 grams, 32.08 mm. 15th-16th century AD. A square weight of about 9mm thickness. The upper surface bears a saltire within a raised border, with rectilinear motifs in the quarters. Along the bevelled edges are panels continuing the lines of the surface design. Reference: Biggs, N. & Withers, P.
