Medieval 'Seal Matrix' Finger Ring
Silver, 3.47 grams, 21.51 mm. 14th-16th century AD. A seal matrix ring comprising a round-section band and flat, circular bezel. The design comprises a central motif of a cross-hatched tower with triangular roof, surrounded by two punched borders enclosing the legend +GIT[.]ADIA. Reference: Oman, C. British Rings 800-1914, London, 1974 plate 42 (B). Extremely fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection, found continental Europe.
