Rare Merovingian 'Triangular Plate' Silver Buckle
Silver, 6.98 grams, 47.95 mm. Circa 6th century AD. A beautiful silver buckle with a large triangular plate, cast in one piece with a convex-sided buckle loop and two of the original three hemispherical rivet-heads. The tongue extends beyond the outer edge of the loop and has a rectangular ‘shield’ decoration. Reference: Marzinzik, S.
