Merovingian 'U-Shaped' Strap End
Silver, 1.17 grams, 21.65 mm. Circa late 6th - early 7th century AD. A silver strap end, tongue-shaped with a rectangular upper zone bearing transverse banding and a billeted upper edge. The lower zone features a single angular, gold chip carved linear ridge running in an elongated u-shape from the lower edge of the upper field. The original single fastening rivet is still in place.
