Mesolithic 'Reused Butt' Tranchet Axe
Flint, 165 grams, 75 mm. Circa 12,000 BC. The butt end of a large tranchet type axe, trimmed and reused as a small cleaver. Referencer: Palmer, S. Mesolithic Cultures of Britain. Provenance: from an old collection, stated to have been found in East Anglia in the 1960s. An interesting piece showing the reuse of materials.
