Very Rare Danish Neolithic 'Pecked and Ground' Battle Axe-Hammer
Quartzite, 630 grams, 132 mm. Denmark, circa 3,000 BC. A large and massive Danish battle axe-hammer in a grey-brown quartzite with unusual form of 'beaked' blade shap and circular projecting hammer face, the central cylindrical hafting hole skillfully drilled. Reference: British Museum Guide to Antiquities of the Stone Age. Near pristine condition and a good example of a rare Scandinavian type. Provenance: found Denmark, Scandinavia; 1920's.
