Neolithic 'Grimes Graves' Core
Flint, 310 grams, 70mm. Circa 2,500 BC. A roughly spherical core showing extensive shaping, with a small area of cortex remaining; possibly resulting from the production of a series of flakes. Reference: Topping, P. Grime's Graves, 2007, for general information. Provenance: with pencilled notation 'Grimes Graves' in Norfolk on one facet. An interesting piece from this famous Neolithic flint mining site.
