Rare Parthian Iron Age 'Socketed' Spearhead
Iron, 245 grams; 343.34 mm. Circa 1st-2nd century AD. Large iron spearhead, tapering socketed section with a detailed ribbed design that connects the neck to the blade; this has an outward curving base that terminates in two barbs then tapers to a point with a slightly raised midrib. Ref: similar to iron spearhead from the controlled excavations in 1345 hegira shamsi (1966 AD) in Rashi and Hasani Mahale, Arms and Armor from Iran by Manouchehr Moshtagh Khorasani, page 637; cat. 295-299. A very well preserved piece in good very fine condition. Ex old English collection.
