Post-Medieval 'Acorn Finial' Pewter Spoon
Pewter, 38.02 grams, 165 mm. Circa 17th century AD. A cast pewter spoon with broad bowl and elliptical-section handle terminating in a stylized acorn. Close to the handle within the bowl is the stamped maker's mark comprising a bilinear circle surrounding the initials 'EM' beneath a crown or volute. Reference: Read, B. Metal Artefacts of Antiquity, vol.1, Langport, 2001 item item 728, 732. Fine condition. Provenance: found near Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK.
