Post-Medieval 'Armorial' Seal Matrix
Silver, 7.75 grams, 27.05 mm. Circa 19th century AD. A Georgian stamp seal in the form of an elliptical plate, slightly domed and ribbed, with an elaborate openwork scrolled handle above. The design features a ducal coronet above an elliptical shield bearing three wings in profile, supported by addorsed griffins, with elaborate scrollwork beneath. Reference: cf. Pateman, B.
