Copper-alloy, 27.56 grams, 172 mm. Circa 17th century AD. A cast gilt copper-alloy spoon with flat-section handle, balustred finial and broad bowl. A stamped maker's mark is placed below the junction with the handle, possibly a rosette within a circle. Reference: Read, B. Metal Artefacts of Antiquity, vol.1, Langport, 2001 item 730. Fine condition, repaired. Provenance: found Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK.
