Bone, 47 grams, 32-49 mm. 18th century AD. A group of 5 belt fittings carved from bone with serrated edges, comprising: three square plates with openwork cross-and-pellet designs, each with two longitudinal piercings; a D-shaped buckle plate with two transverse piercings; a circular plate with broad hook to the rear, with pierced bar and cross-and-pellet motif, the bone plates were among a group strung together with the discoid hook plate at one end and the belt loop at the other. Very fine condition, cleaned and conserved. Provenance: from an important collection of Christian artefacts formed in the 1970s and 1980s; ex property of a city gentleman.
