Rare Post-Medieval 'Eagle Head' Dagger Pommel
Copper-alloy, 25.29 grams, 25.14 mm. Circa 18th century AD. A cast copper-alloy terminal in the form of an eagle's head with hooked beak and D-shaped eyes, and with feather detailing on the neck. The lower edge is formed with a collar. The head is cast hollow with a circular hole in the top. The casting is probably a terminal for a military dagger, the hole to accept the tang of the blade. Supplied with PAS report. Very fine condition, complete. Provenance: found in Walsall, West Midlands, England and recorded with the PAS under reference NARC-7169F8.
