Roman ‘Cuboid’ Gaming Dice
Lead, 11.91 grams, 11.50 mm, 1st-4th century AD. Roman dice were used in pairs for a variety of board games, and were also popular with the military for casual gambling. The sum of the numbers on opposite sides of Roman is always seven, as on modern dice. The present piece is a small lead cube with impressed roundels on each face. Reference: Parlett, D.
