Ancient Roman 'Decorated Gold and Glass' Necklace
Gold and Glass. 22.26 grams, 46 cm [18 inches]. Circa 1st century AD. A re-strung multicoloured glass necklace, which has 48 extruded and twisted glass beads of different translucent shades, with a yellow carnelian pear drop pendant, and a geometric design gold plated bead either side. Some of the beads are drilled from both ends and they have conical opening, fitted with a modern clasp to allow it to be worn.
