Rare Roman 'Garnet Cloison' Finger Ring
Gold and garnet, 4.06 grams, 23.42 mm. (Approximate size British U, USA 10¼, Europe 22.83, Japan 22.) Circa 3rd century AD. A gold finger ring comprising a triple-band hoop, the outer band segments expanding to openwork shoulders with granule infill and a square bezel with granule border. On the bezel is a square-section cell containing a garnet set en cloison, with a granule at the base of each face. Reference: Oman, C.C.
