Roman 'Onion-Shaped' Glass Phial
Glass, 7.28 grams, 60.10 mm. Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. A translucent green glass phial with a narrow tubular neck and a flared rim; the neck develops from the spherical body which has no base. The glass is thin and delicate with an attractive iridescent surface. Reference: cf. Roman glassware from British finds in Allen, D. Roman Glass in Britain, Princes Risborough, 1998. Extremely fine condition, complete. Provenance: from an old English collection.
