Roman 'Parallel-Sided' Key
Copper-alloy, 16.28 grams, 47.78 mm. 1st-2nd century AD. A cast flat-section key with large hole to the upper end and suspension ring. The shank is square-section with chamfered edges, the ward cut to six bits. Reference: Murawski, P. Benet's Artefacts of England and the United Kingdom, Ely, 2003 item R17-0206. Fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection; acquired in the 1990s.
