Roman 'Phallic' Knife Quillon
Copper-alloy, 8.45 grams, 61 mm. Circa 1st-4th century AD. A knife guard, a fist and an erect phallus on either end. Phallic ornamentation was used by the Roman military as an assertion of masculine power. Very fine condition, complete and undamaged. Reference: ex Rev. Stephenson collection.
