Plaster, 140 grams, 61 x 81 mm. Circa 1st century AD. A well preserved thick coarse white wall plaster fragment from a polychrome fresco with a painted design in ochre on the smooth pale blue and white surface. Reference: Casa Dell’Ara Massima or House of Pinarius or Casa di Narcisso. VI.16.15 Pompeii, excavated 1903. Very fine condition. Provenance: reputed to be from the ancient city of Pompeii in Campania, Italy. Acquired in the 19th century, ex Jeger collection, Switzerland.
