Roman 'Ribbed' Ceramic Amphora
Ceramic, 3.8 kg, 36 cm. 4th-5th century AD. A short terracotta amphora with rounded base, barrel-shaped body, rounded shoulder, narrow neck and two strap handles; the surface corrugated and with calcareous accretion. Fine condition, repair to rim. Provenance: property of a European gentleman living in London; acquired in the UK before 1980.
