Roman 'Shouldered' Military Finger Ring
Silver, 3.90 grams, 21.25 mm. 4th-5th century AD. An octagonal finger ring with a couched elliptical bezel flanked by wide sub-triangular shoulders developing into a segmented band. The shoulders bear bilinear chevron decoration. There is some restoration to the band. The bezel is uninscribed. A very similar ring with a short text on its bezel, found in Cologne, is held by the Victoria and Albert Museum and was published in 1930. Reference: Oman, C.C.
