Copper-alloy, 13.98 grams, 29.95 mm. Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. A heavy duty key for a tumbler lock, with carinated-section circular bow, short shank and long transverse bit with diagonal slots. Reference: cf. Murawski, P. Benet's Artefacts of England and the United Kingdom, Ely, 2003 items R17-0204, 0205. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
