Romano-British 'Votive'Axehead
Copper-alloy, 4.08 grams, 31.08 mm. 1st-4th century AD. A miniature axehead with a slot in the rear and notch in the lower edge. Votive miniature weapons were made to be offered to the gods by the military to accompany prayers for good luck and in gratitude for previous good fortune.
