Romano Celtic ‘Trumpet Whorl’ Tongue-Shaped Hingeplate
Copper-alloy, 12.2 grams, 39.8 mm. Circa 1st century AD. A tongue-shaped hingeplate decorated in the Celtic La Tene tradition, formed from double trumpets, with attachment pegs on the reverse. Reference: Megaw, R and V, Celtic Art, 1989, p. 238. Very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
