Saxon 'Looped Terminal' Bracelet
Silver, 3.95 grams, 58.43 mm. 5th-9th century AD. A twisted or 'writhen' bracelet formed from square-section silver rod, twisted along its own length and formed into a penannular shape, the ends narrowing to a fine point and formed into a double-loop. Reference: MacGregor, A. & Bolick, E. A Summary Catalogue of the Anglo-Saxon Collections (Non-Ferrous Metals), BAR British Series 230, 1993, p.168 item 26.20, 26.21. Good very fine condition. Provenance: from an old English collection.
