Silver, 1.12 grams, 12.35 mm. Series E, Sub Group 4, Variety G1; 695-740 AD. Obverse: quilled crescent facing right with two pellets at top of crescent and triple pellet under. Reverse: beaded standard with four vertical lines and triple pellets within plus pellet in annulet at centre and cross pommee above. Metcalf notes (page 218) that G1, with the triple pellets on the reverse, is a rare variant and should perhaps be designated G0 as being possible an early, experimental version of the type.
