Scandinavian Viking 'Single Tremello Band' Finger Ring
Silver, 4.69 grams, 19.87 mm ext.dia. (British size O, USA 7¼, Europe 15.00) 10th-11th century. A Viking ribbed finger-ring of Lehtosalo-Hilander's Type III. The central rib is shallow D-sectioned. The decoration on the expanding flanges consists of a single punched tremello-style (zigzag) horizontal linear band flanking the rib. The hoop is a continuation of the central rib and extends to form a thin rod at each end which runs back round the finger to create a three-band effect.
