Series N Type 41b 'Monster' Sceatta
Silver, 0.93 grams; 12.52 mm. Circa 710-760 AD. Obverse: Two standing figures on base line holding three crosses with in beaded border. Reverse: Monster facing back with its tail curled back under the chin; body outlined with pellets within a pellet border. Recorded with the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge University as: EMC 2008.0443. M 372; S 810. Good very fine/very fine. Found Cambridge. This item is accompanied by a XRF ancient metal test certificate from Oxford X-ray Fluorescence Ltd: 89.7 % silver; 2.4% gold; 3.9% copper; 1.4% lead; tin 2.7%.
