Neolithic/Bronze Age 'Barbed & Tanged' Arrowheads for Sale

The Neolithic (New Stone Age) period in Europe dates to between about 6,000 and 3,000 BC. The development of the flint arrowhead reaches its pinnacle near the end of the Neolithic era and continues in use on into the Early Bronze Age period. They are frequently wonderful artefacts which are always in high demand.

Flint, 2.77 grams, 23.25 mm. Circa 2,500-2,000 BC. A neatly fashioned triangular arrowhead with short barbs and square-ended tang in honey-coloured flint. The median spine is flat with a small remainder of the cortex. Reference: Evans, J. The Ancient Bronze Implements, Weapons and Ornaments of Great Britain and Ireland, London, 1881 item 311. Very fine condition. Provenance: found at Barkston, Lincolnshire, UK.

British Bronze Age ’Barbed and Tanged’ Arrowhead
Flint, 1.56 grams, 26 mm. Circa 2,500-2,000 BC. A neatly fashioned triangular arrowhead with long barbs (one partial) and square-ended tang in grey flint. The median spine is curved, the tip of one tang has been lost in antiquity. Reference: Evans, J. The Ancient Bronze Implements, Weapons and Ornaments of Great Britain and Ireland, London, 1881.
