Scarce Titus 'Trophy and Captives' Denarius
Silver, 3.30 grams, 18.26 mm. 80 AD. Obverse: IMP TITVS CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M, laureate head right. Reverse: TR P IX IMP XV COS VIII P P, Trophy with a captive on either side. RIC 102; RSC 305; Sear 2511. Very fine. The reverse type refers to the victory in Judaea or, alternatively the activities in northern Britain of the celebrated governor Gnaeus Julius Agricola, father-in-law of the historian Tacitus.
