Excessively Rare Trinovantes 'RUES Type' AE Unit
Copper-alloy, 2.35 grams, 15.57 mm. Late first century BC. Obverse: lion right with RVES to left. Reverse: eagle. Celtic Coin Index Registration Number at Oxford University: CCI 09.3090. S. 270; VA 1890; M. 189; BMC 1691 [variant]. The variant with spelling RVES not apparently recorded for this type [difficult to see unless under magnification, the E with short prongs and the S doubling as the lion's tail]. Excessively rare and about extremely fine with good surfaces.
