Tudor 'Convex' Sword Pommel Cap
Copper-alloy and gilt, 26.37 grams, 35.88 mm dia. 16th century AD. A thick, cast hemispherical fitting with a central circular piercing surrounded by an external ridge with a pelleted border. The detail comprises a plain outer border, within which are set four D-shaped elements, each with a keyhole-shaped internal block. The gilding remains in place in the recessed areas of the design.
