Copper-alloy, 1.70 grams, 20.95 mm. An Elizabethan (1558 - 1603 AD) token showing on the obverse the arms of the City of London within a border bearing the legend "+AVE MARI[...]RATIA PLENA" (hail, Mary, full of grace) and on the reverse a medieval cog within a border bearing the legend 'NEPCVMO OII[ ] - ERE'. Some loss to edge, otherwise GOOD very fine condition. Provenance: from the Thames foreshore at Greenwich, reported to the Museum of London.
